Remote Control Wars

Few things try relationships as much as control issues. When I say control, I mean control of the television remote. It's a daily battle in my household and I'm sure I'm not alone.

You see, my fiance loves to hold onto the remote. The only problem is he's a channel surfer. As soon as I get interested in whatever show, documentary or news program that he randomly lands on, he turns to something else. But that's not the worse offense.

The worse is his total denial of ever falling asleep. He dozes off and still absolutely will not relenquish control of the remote. He refuses to admit that he is asleep, despite snoring loudly through whatever program we are attempting to watch.

I love him dearly, but I want to choke the life out of him when he does that.

What is it about men and the remote control? Are they less of a man if they allow their woman to touch it? Is it an extension of their penises or just a sign of complete selfishness?

The biggest question of all: Can I seriously marry a man who won't even share the remote control with me?

Dreamgirls Engaged! Jennifer Hudson Says Yes

My favorite Dreamgirl said yes to love this past weekend. Jennifer Hudson is engaged to her boyfriend, David Otunga. Otunga, known as Punk on VH1's "I Love New York 2" has been shadowing the Oscar winner for months. Hudson kept their relationship private until now. Her reps reportedly confirmed Friday that Otunga proposed on J-Hud's birthday Sept. 12.

Hudson, who stars in the upcoming flick The Secret Lives of Bees, split from her back-home sweetheart shortly after snagging the Academy Award for her breakout performance in Dreamgirls. I'm not surprised. Sudden fame often changes relationships when the partner can't keep up with the pace.

The American idol castoff has apparently found love again in Otunga, who has impressive credits himself. The 28-year-old former lawyer is a Harvard grad. Way to go, Jen!

Reformed 'Slut': Hooray For Purity!

I voted for Jordin Sparks to win American Idol. Her voice is beautiful but it was her wholesomeness that won me over. As a mom of a 10-year-old girl, I'm glad I did.

Sparks spoke up for purity last night at the Video Music Awards after the show's host Russell Brand (who I personally thought was funny) kept taking swipes at the Jonas Brothers and their purity rings. The teen hearthrobs have vowed to keep it in their pants until they are married. I'm not sure how long that will last, but since my daughter is a big fan, I'm all for it.

Sparks, 18, publicly has made the same vow and took offense to Brand's anti-virgin jokes. Before presenting an award, at American Idol winner told the audience, "I just have one thing to say about promise rings. It's not bad to wear a promise ring because not everybody – guy or girl – wants to be a slut." (source)

Since my daughter was watching the show with me, I applauded. I didn't clap because I think everyone who doesn't wait until marraige is a slut. I'd never talk about myself in that manner. I'm just always pleased when young girls have better role models to look up to than perhaps I would have been at that age. I am relieved to see that these kids who have every opportunity to go wrong are choosing to make the right choices and hopefully influencing our children to do the same.

If the Jo-Bros or even Jordin slips up, I'm won't jump on the inevitable media bandwagon and call for them to be burned at the stake. The fact that they had honorable intentions accounts for alot these days. Afterall, a couple channels over from Disney and Nickolodeon sex and excess are put on a pedestal and female role models are hard to come by.

Twins Are "In" In Hollywood

Anything can become a fad in Hollywood. First adopting children from around the world was envogue, followed by the Hollywood baby boom that had stars spitting out weirdly named offspring like Pez dispensers. Now, it seems to be cool to produce double bundles of joy.
A pal is blabbing that Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and hubby Pete Wentz are the latest tinseltown duo to be expecting twins. Fall Out Boy Pete, 29, and Ashlee, 23, were married on May 17 and announced the pregnancy soon after. The twins, however, haven't been confirmed. Pete, who likes to poke fun at the media and the ever-present paparrazzi, started the rumor himself when he referred to the baby as "them" during a radio interview. A rep said the twins rumor is not true. The friend could simply be misinformed. We'll just have to wait and see.
Other notable Hollywood moms who indeed recently welcomed twins are Jennifer Lopez, Angelina Jolie, Ricky Martin, Nancy Grace, Patrick Dempsey and Diana Farr of Numb3rs.

RANDOM CELEBRITY PDA: Will & Jada

Photos from WENN
Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith give us hope. Still in love and lust, this couple continues to make celebrity married life look easy, despite rumors of an open-marraige and other freakiness. Hey, if freaky-deaky works, who are we to judge?

Ignoring The Signs of a Throw Away Man

A friend of mine was out with a new guy when he started telling her about an altercation he had with his ex and her new dude. In short, he knocked them both out. Now, my frend was asking me, "Do you think he is violent?"

What!!!??? DIDN'T HE JUST TELL YOU HE WAS, GENIUS?

She had the nerve to say, "But he seems nice and she hit him first."

Yeah! I bet he won't seem so nice when he has her in a headlock in a couple of months.I call those types of men "Throw Away Dudes" like garage that you take out of the house before it starts to stink. You don't wait until it punches you in the head, knocking your weave all crooked.

A man will tell you who he is in the first few conversations. It's our job is to listen and BELIEVE HIM!

Ladies, why do we insist on ignoring the signs until we end up in the police station for cutting somebody who put his hands on us? Fellas, is it ever OK to hit a woman? Have any of you ever ignored a early warning sign in a relationship that came back to bite you in the ass or stalk you later?

Matthew McConaughey's mom has a book! And it's very candid.

A recent study of 475 University of Michigan undergraduates ages 17 to 26 found that 27 percent of the men and 14 percent of the women who weren't in a committed relationship had offered someone favors or gifts -- help prepping for a test, laundry washing, tickets to a college football game -- in exchange for sex.

Random Celebrity PDA Of The Week: Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams

The Notebook stars Gosling and McAdams are back on and showing it by locking lips during a romantic breakfast on Thursday. The couple split last year ending a 3-year relationship that started after the movie wrapped in 2004. The Notebook is one of my favorite love stories. I cry like a baby at the end everytime. Maybe these two lovebirds will find their happy ending the second time around. (source)
